The other night I went to African dance class, had a great time being in the spirit of drums and dance.

(Okay maybe I just really wanted to whine my waist, but it felt damn good... lol)

Anyway,

The teacher shared a poem that her daughter had recited at an event held in my teacher's honor.

There was one line in the poem that kept sticking with my Teacher, and now it sticks with me:

The line said:

"You'll never know love, without a good fight."

Fi true.... too many times, we never get to experience real LOVE because we refuse to get in the ring and fight.

And for all you "guards up" people, I'm talking about wide open punch drunk love... like you the other night in di parti... after that 3rd Red Bull and Henessey.... head spinning, balance gone.

And when you look at the times when you fought against your parents strict rules, your grandmudda old backwards ways, you stubborn father, or unreasonable mother... even your new love in your life, you cramming to understand.... right now

You want to know love. Stay. Fight. and Feel (true love).

The rest is just sucka punches... ya' throwin'

Sometimes you need to be a Fighter AND a LOVER... don't let the song fool ya.
